News Update July 2017
The flash floods earlier this month gushed along river beds that had been dry for decades. Malham Cove in the Yorkshire Dales became a waterfall for the first time in living memory.
We are praying that God will make that picture a reality in the spiritual life of our nation. We are so encouraged by the numbers of denominations and ministries that are saying ‘We’re in!’ as plans are being made to make Jesus know through words and action in 2018. We long to see rivers of God’s blessing bringing new life in villages, towns and cities, as people discover Jesus’ love. As you have time off over the summer, allow yourself to dream. Where could I bring hope in 2018? What could that look like? And if your church leaders haven’t yet caught the HOPE 2018 vision, ask for an opportunity to talk with them about your church being involved, and show the HOPE 2018 video above. Nothing grows if rain doesn’t reach the grass roots; the same goes for the Church.

The summer conference season has kicked off. These are key events to equip the Church. Thousands of HOPE 2018 brochures are being distributed to encourage delegates to prepare for mission – if you receive a brochure take the opportunity to talk to fellow delegates about their church’s mission plans for 2018 and share what you are doing in your area. Order copies of the brochure here.

Harvest is a celebration of all the good things God gives us. It’s also a time to enjoy these good things through food and friendship, and to give to others who may be less fortunate.

This September, HOPE is joining with World Vision UK to bring communities together and to help transform the lives of children around the world. This is one way that you could celebrate Harvest this year.

The idea is simple: invite your friends, neighbours and colleagues for a meal and enjoy a great time together. Guests are invited to give the cost of their meal to Share a Meal - and help some of the most vulnerable children around the world.

Christmas-Hope-coverMusic and magazines
Summer has hardly started, but the HOPE team are busy working with partners to finalise resources for churches to use at Christmas. We are developing a Hope for Every Home initiative to provide top quality Christmas HOPE magazines for you to deliver door-to-door in your area. As you think ahead to your autumn events, plan to map out a specific area where you can bring hope to every home this Christmas. Last year 100,000 copies of Christmas HOPE (left) were delivered. In September we will reveal the 2017 Christmas HOPE magazine for you to order. Tell us how many copies you might use.

We are also preparing a new Christmas Carols book to use singing door to door, in sports stadia and shopping centre flash mobs – as well as in Christmas guest services. Bible Society, Sports Chaplaincy UK, Integrity Music, CPO and iSingWorship are our partners for this project. There will be an app to use so you can have backing tracks with lyrics wherever you want to get people singing. CPO will be offering matching posters, invitations and more.Click here and here to watch flashmob choirs making an impact. Where could singers and church choirs sing in your village, town or city?
Christmas Testimony
The Great Commission website team are looking for testimonies from people who became Christians after first going to a Christmas event in their local church. If you know someone who could tell their story to encourage others, let us know.

MA-LIVELogoMission Academy Live
The latest research commissioned by the HOPE Revolution partnership, shows that 13% of 11 to 18 year olds are actively following Jesus, praying regularly and attending church at least once a month. We long for these young people to take the lead in sharing the hope they have with their friends and family so the partners have devised Mission Academy Live – find out more here.
