Changing Communities

In a nutshell
A group of young Christians in Newmarket made the local papers when they decided to run a series of events for local sheltered-housing residents in Mildenhall. Organising tea and coffee mornings with ‘sing-alongs’ to 1940s music, these young people made an impact not only on the residents, but also in getting alongside local people and being an active presence in changing their communities. They also took part in a ‘litter and leaf’ clean-up in the local park.

The Outcome
Local spokesperson, Alison Reid commented: The youngsters really enjoyed themselves. Not only did they learn from the residents, they also got to mix with other young people. The older generation really appreciated it and it showed them young people in a positive light.’
