Evangelism
Fifteen young people responded to the call to become full-time evangelists at a small youth gathering this half term. I was staggered to see so many make this response. Phil TimpsonA similar number had just responded to the gospel for the first time. It is my belief that the best way to mobilise young evangelists is to model evangelism. Seeing evangelism in practice inspires young people to replicate evangelism in their own lives. HOPE Revolution continues to mobilise leaders across the country to champion evangelism, with a sense of urgency, mobilising young people to intentionally make Jesus known through their words and actions.

What could this look like for your area? How can we serve you to help model evangelism with young people in your region?

HOPE Revolution Peterborough
Peterborough

More than 400 young people and youth leaders attended the HOPE Revolution Peterborough alternative Halloween Carve a Heart event in partnership with World Vision. This followed the launch of HOPE Revolution Peterborough in September with church leaders from across the city. At the Carve a Heart event young people not only enjoyed various inflatables, a silent disco, live music and more, but importantly 100s of young people heard the good news of Jesus and 68 young people responded.

EngageThis was the first major event in a strategy to see 2000 young people across the Peterborough region come to faith over the next three years, with HOPE 2018 a central year in the strategy. A committed team of youth workers from churches and para-church organisations are working together to realise this vision. The focus is to model effective evangelism and see young people choose to intentionally make Jesus known to their friends and to the world around them.

If you would like to mobilise intentional evangelism strategies across your area then why not book the HOPE Rev Roadshow to inspire vision and unity amongst youth leaders and ministries in your area? We would love this story to be your story as we dream to see a culture-changing number of young people finding faith in Jesus.

Schools mission

Because youre lovedAt Soul Survivor this year 20,000 young people received 'Because You’re Loved' cards. As a result hundreds of young people have been making Jesus known in schools across the country as part of the Because You’re Loved schools mission week. This great initiative in partnership with PAIS can be done anytime. Do check out their website to engage with Because You’re Loved.

ShineWe having been working with our friends at Scripture Union who have the perfect opportunity to build on this experience and continue to mobilise young people to make Jesus known as they reach out to their peers in their schools. Shine is a 3-week initiative which will see young people catch a vision for how God can use them in their school, climaxing with a week of mission that will take place in the week starting 28th November. There are stacks of resources and meeting guides to complement this initiative, including our very own Chatterbox tool. This is a great opportunity to revitalise Christian groups in schools, and to act as a catalyst for many more new groups to start.  Go to www.schoolslive.org.uk for more information.

With 74% of people coming to faith under the age of 18, and relationship key in this process, peer to peer evangelism in schools remains the greatest mission opportunity for young people today. How we can make the most of this opportunity? One response is our intention to establish schools-based Mission Academies cross the country as we build to a year of mission in 2018. Please do contact us to explore what this looks like and how we can mobilise a schools-based Mission Academy in your area.

HOPE MK

HOPE-pinkThis half term HOPE MK in Milton Keynes saw 153 young people serving on projects assisted by 70 volunteers in partnership with 34 churches and 18 organisations. Ricky Rew, Youth minister at Spurgeon Baptist Church in Milton Keynes has been leading the HOPE MK mission weeks for the last 4 years.

This year, projects ranged from community building (Family Drop-Ins, Messy Church, Play Cafe) to practical (serving at MK Hospital, churchyard restoration, Urb Farm development & allotment management) through to evangelistic (free hugs, prophetic words, healing on the streets). On the final day 15 young people made a first-time commitment to Jesus and 120 more were on their knees committing to go deeper with God”.  Ricky Rew

Ricky’s desire and commitment for unity, has seen God’s blessing come, through a partnership that has seen words and action impact the lives of a generation of young people across Milton Keynes. Could you deliver a HOPE Revolution mission week in your area for 2018? We’d love to dream and explore with you what this could look like, serving your region to see young people empowered to share their faith. 18 months is a good preparation period and so now is the time to cast vision and get the ball rolling for a week of mission in 2018. Contact Phil Timson to discuss how HOPE Revolution could support you. Let’s dream and plan together!
