Harvest is making a come-back as a great community event and an opportunity to bless local people. In 2013 Westminster Abbey held its first harvest festival in almost 50 years. In 2014 Birmingham Cathedral hosted the National Harvest Festival. The team behind British Food Fortnight run a competition each year with opportunities for churches to get involved. In 2015 National Harvest Services were held in three Cathedrals: Canterbury, Lincoln and Ripon. These community-led services helped provide ideas and inspiration to others who are interested in following their lead on a local level. Find out more here and tell us your plans.
HOPE encourages churches to use the church calendar in a rhythm of mission, and harvest is a great opportunity to build on the friendships made through summer events, inviting local people to celebrate with a meal together.
