News Update September 2017
I’ve just returned from an amazing gathering of Christian leaders meeting for 24 hours to pray and consider how we make Jesus known in our country over the next 30 years - the Windermere Leaders' Summit was hosted by HOPE, the Church of England and the Evangelical Alliance. It was humbling to be led in prayer by Namjin Kim from the Korean churches in the UK – did you know that hundreds of South Korean Christians visit our country, at their own cost and in their holiday time, to intercede for us? Yemi Adedeji, HOPE’s Associate Director, and Pete Grieg from the 24/7 prayer movement, spoke prophetically in the opening Bible sessions. Yemi focused on Jesus’ encounter with the grieving widow from Nain (Luke 7): ‘Jesus is speaking to his Church: Arise!’ and Pete spoke from 1 Kings 18 on Elijah: ‘I hear the sound of a heavy rain!’.
It has been wonderful to see men and women from such a range of ethnic and denominational backgrounds talking and praying together. The Summit discussed the new

resources and committed to track changes in people’s perceptions of Jesus as, together, we seek to make Jesus known more effectively.

Comedian and actor Miranda Hart, Sky Sports and former Blue Peter presenter Simon Thomas, and toy store entrepreneur Gary Grant are among those featured in the 2017
magazine. This top quality, glossy give-away magazine is specially written to help you and your church this Christmas as you invite guests to seasonal events in your church. There’s a feature linking with the
resources we’ve been working on, and there are testimonies from Christians involved in some of the tragedies which left the country reeling in Manchester, Westminster and Grenfell Tower.

Share a Meal
HOPE and international children’s charity, World Vision UK, have launched a joint campaign to bring communities together to celebrate harvest and encourage support for some of the most vulnerable children around the world. The campaign – featuring Great British Bake Off star Selasi Gbormittah, offers individuals a delicious opportunity to get together with others this Autumn sharing good company, food and conversation, building stronger relationships.
Launching the campaign, Roy Crowne, Director of HOPE, says “Hospitality lies at the heart of the Christian faith and sharing a meal together is such an intimate and important event in our homes. It encourages people to feel relaxed and feel a real sense of connection. HOPE wants to put Harvest back at the centre of church and community life - to see a culture of gratitude, hospitality and generosity becoming an important part of every community. We are delighted to partner with World Vision in this appeal to encourage more people to get together for a good meal and a great cause.”

Mission Academy Live
Youth leaders across the country are forming small groups to use the 10-session Mission Academy Live programme– here’s why.
It saves preparing 10 sessions! That’s a good start!
It’s video based. Always a winner!
It will empower young people to share their faith with their friends. We long for this!
It will give young people exciting testimonies and will see youth groups grow.
It’s totally FREE.
As part of the launch of Mission Academy Live there are
free regional launch days
for youth leaders and young people to attend around the country. These events will inspire young people for evangelism and will help them consider running Mission Academy Live in their context.
For all the information you need on Mission Academy Live and our launch events, and to sign up as a Mission Academy Live small group to download the FREE material, check out our

We are so grateful to God for our partnership with you as we seek to make Jesus known. Do let us know how we can pray for you as you plan for HOPE 2018. May God continue to bless you and make you a blessing.
Love from the HOPE team
