News Update March 2017

‘See! The winter is past; the rains are over and gone. Flowers appear on the earth; the season of singing has come…’ (Song of Solomon 2:11-12).

All around us we are seeing signs of Spring. And there’s a sense of spiritual new birth too. We are hearing great stories of people coming to faith. Churches are preparing to reach out into their communities in new ways. We’ve been thrilled to see a great, positive response from denominations and ministries as we have shared the vision for HOPE 2018. Leaders have been saying ‘what can we bring to the party?’

If the churches in your area have not yet caught the vision for HOPE 2018, order the free HOPE 2018 brochure to help them catch the vision.

We hope you will be planning to invite guests to your Easter services this year – watch Rico Tice in the video above explaining what they are planning at All Souls, Langham Place in London.

We are so encouraged by the enthusiasm and interest around HOPE 2018. You can read below what the Bishop of Swindon says about HOPE. Join with us as we pray in preparation for this massive year of mission together, that God will prepare hearts and open minds to the Gospel.

Roy Crowne
HOPE's Executive Director

The Rt Revd Lee Rayfield, Bishop of Swindon, Diocese of Bristol: "By identifying opportunities throughout 2018 for churches to serve our communities and commend the Christian faith, HOPE18 is supporting churches across our region to come together in mission and evangelism. The high quality of the resources being made available, the national scale of the initiative, and the prayerful planning at its heart, are all helping us put flesh on the vision and priorities we believe God has called us to as a Diocese.”

Easter give-awayWho-doyou-say-I-am

More than 10,000 copies of Who Do You Say I Am? have been ordered in the past month as churches prepare to give away copies at Easter Sunday services. Please pray that these will lead to conversations about Jesus and that people will realise that they can live in the power of the resurrection. Find out more here.

Faith with FamiliesCare for the Family

Care for the Family and HOPE have launched a new report that gives fresh insight into how best to encourage Christian parents to nurture their children’s faith at home. The research reveals that despite 95% of parents acknowledging it was largely their responsibility to teach their children Christian faith, 92% admitted they could be doing more. Fewer than three-quarters of parents said they shared Bible stories with their children and only 27% found it helpful talking about faith with them.

Read the launch press release here, find out about leaders’ events from Care for the Family here for opportunities to discuss the implications of the research. Also, please pray for Care for the Family as they continue to build on this research.
Friday-Focus-logo2Daily prayer
We are so grateful! Every day at least three Redeemed Christian Church of God churches, who are on a rota around the country, set aside an hour to pray for HOPE and the evangelisation of the UK. Lord, hear our prayer! Join them and thousands of others as we pray for our nations and mission in 2018. Download the Friday Focus prayers here.

Finding faith, following Jesus

More than 100 young people made a decision to follow Jesus at a HOPE Revolution Peterborough event held in the city. The event saw more than 500 young people and 80 adult volunteers gather at the Kingsgate Venue. Guvna B and DJ Galactus Jack went down a storm. The young people who responded to Jesus talked through their decision with a member of the prayer team and were connected to local church youth programmes. A great testimony of youth leaders working together in unity under the umbrella of HOPE Revolution. What could this look like in your area? Contact HOPE’s Youth Director Phil Timson to explore possibilities.
New research
HOPE Revolution and partners have completed a ground-breaking research project into ‘Perceptions of Jesus, Christians and Evangelism amongst young people today’. The results will be released in June and used to inform the next evolution of the HOPE Revolution Mission Academy programme. As soon as the details of the research are made public we will let you know.
Easter Passion
Are the churches in your area holding a Passion Play at Easter, a March of Witness, or other creative arts projects as part of One Friday? We would love to pray for you, to hear what you are doing and to see pictures that we can share to inspire others to plan their own events for Easter 2018.
Easter Passion: London and Manchester
On Saturday 8 April 2017 Manchester retells the Greatest Story Ever Told in Manchester Cathedral Gardens from noon. A cast of local people supported by the Manchester Inspirational Voices Choir and the Sweet Rhythm Big Band will present the story of Jesus: his teaching, his betrayal, his trial and his Passion, as he moves towards his death and glorious Resurrection. Find out more here.

On Good Friday, 14 April 20,000 people are expected to gather to watch the Easter story in Trafalgar Square in central London. Supported by the Mayor of London, 100 Wintershall players will present a moving portrayal of the final days of Jesus. The 90-minute production is completely free of charge - a gift to Londoners and visitors. There is a performance at 12 noon and 3:15 pm. Find out more here.

Passion

Let’s pray that, over this Easter as the Gospel is presented, we will see many people experience the love of God for themselves.

Do let us know how we can serve you as we build to mission together in 2018.
love from the HOPE team
