News Update December 2016
Agu
What an amazing year!
We are so grateful to God for all that has been achieved in mission in 2016. For us it was to be a year of preparation for the launch of HOPE 2018 - you can watch Pastor Agu speaking at the launch in Lambeth Palace in the video above. But, in the months before the launch we were overwhelmed by the response to The Servant Queen. We have been thrilled to hear reports of churches in villages, towns and cities around the world, giving the book away and talking to people about Jesus. Copies can still be ordered from www.cpo.org.uk/thequeen. This update includes a few of the highlights as we look back through the year and look forward to 2018.

Global prayer plans
tkcIt was exciting to be part of Thy Kingdom Come – the Archbishops’ prayer initiative. More than 3,000 churches got involved. For 2017 Thy Kingdom Come goes global, with churches of every denomination planning to take part around the world.
HOPE Revolution LogoReaching young people
HOPE Revolution took great strides forward in the goal to mobilise young people to share their faith. The HOPE Rev Roadshow and the Step Out Tour took to the road to share the vision.

You might be fairly new to HOPE. Perhaps you ordered The Servant Queen to give away or Christmas No.1 carols booklets, or you might have been with us since we began with Hope08. If so you’ll know that HOPE is a catalyst for mission, helping churches to work together to make Jesus known with words and action.

HOPE is now in a new phase, working towards 2018 and a year of mission together in our villages, towns and cities. We’d love you and your church to be part of this. You can order free copies of the HOPE 2018 brochure to help churches in your area to catch the vision.

Friday Focus – pray with us

FridayFocusTo prepare for 2018 we will be sending out Friday Focus each week, so that you can join us praying that God will transform lives throughout the UK. Friday Focus for January and February 2017 is available now to download here. Print it and keep it in your Bible or you can sign up here and we will email the Friday Focus prayer to you each week.

Friday Focus is available to download in colour, black and white or large print from www.hopetogether.org.uk/pray. Give a copy to the prayer groups and intercessors in your church, the church magazine editor, and those who lead prayers in church on Sundays. Friday Focus is also available as a pull-out in Prayer magazine. You can subscribe here.

Silent Night – 200 years old!

SilentNightSingleCoverThe classic carol Silent Night was written 200 years ago. To celebrate you can use the free carols booklet we’ve produced in partnership with Tearfund, Sports Chaplaincy UK and Integrity Music. It’s not too late to order them from CPO with matching posters, invitations and banners. If you are singing Silent Night this Christmas, try the new version by Ben Cantelon and Nick Herbert – lyrics, sheet music, backing tracks and chord sheets are available here and you can watch Paul Potts talking about his charity recording of the carol here. To sing carols easily outdoors or by candlelight , download the Carols Words app. Find out more here.

ChristmasNumber1 Christmas No.1 carol services
Churches and sports stadia across the UK are using the Christmas No. 1 carols booklet at community carol events – 60,000 copies have been ordered. AFC Bournemouth, Manchester United and Ulster Rugby are among the top sports clubs hosting a carols event this year. Churches Together in Harborough used the Christmas No. 1 booklet at the District Council’s Christmas Lights Switch On in Market Harborough Town Square, and hundreds of other events are being planned. Do let us know how you are pointing people to Jesus through Advent and Christmas.

Christmas HOPE

Christmas-Hope-coverThis Christmas we are running a pilot project using a specially published magazine – Christmas HOPE. We planned to print 50,000 copies of this 28-page glossy magazine, but there was such an overwhelming response we doubled the print-run to 100,000. It’s too late to get involved this year, but you can read some of the articles, watch videos, download a Christmas quiz and vote for your favourite carol on the specially-designed website www.christmashope.org. Thanks to all who responded to the invitation to give away Christmas HOPE, and who have agreed to evaluate the project in January.
