News Update January 2016
New Year video
2016 is a new season for HOPE. We are building towards 2018 – ten years on from Hope08 when 1500 areas worked under the HOPE banner – doing mission together in words and action. There was an amazing impact in village, towns and cities nationwide. Projects like Street Pastors and Foodbanks blossomed as churches put faith into action. HOPE has grown in these 10 years and now many more denominations and ministries are working with us to reach our nation with the Good News of Jesus. Last year’s Talking Jesus research and the Talking Jesus New Year Prayer was a great launch pad for this new season. The research is sparking a fresh understanding of how we communicate our faith. Church leaders all over the country are preparing to equip Christians of all ages to have fruitful, positive conversations about Jesus with friends and family. The research tells us that one in five wants to know more! Let’s be praying for five friends, asking God to open hearts to the gospel. We long to see our nation turned around as many more people become followers of Jesus. Click here to watch HOPE's New Year video message.

The Servant Queen and the King She Serves
The Queen’s 90th birthday gives churches a great opportunity to bring communities together to celebrate her life and Christian faith. HOPEBible Society and the London Institute for Contemporary Christianity  The Servant Queenhave produced a stunning, full-colour, book which uses the Queen’s own words to draw out the central role of her trust in Jesus Christ. It will be a wonderful conversation starter. This 64-page book ‘The Servant Queen and the King She Serves’ will be available next month in packs of 10 at £1 a copy (plus p&p). Scripture Union has produced a 12-page schools’ version, with a lesson plan and assembly outline and CPO has a matching range of posters, banners and invitations. Start planning to hold a Thanksgiving Service and street party on Sunday 12 June to celebrate the Queen’s birthday. Click to pre-order ‘The Servant Queen and the King She Serves’.
Prayer for beginners
TryPrayingLogoOne in four 18-34 year olds think Jesus was a mythical figure, according to the Talking Jesus research. Try Praying invites people who don’t know Jesus to discover that, not only did he live, he is alive and answering people's prayers today.

One Friday … a passion for every community
One Friday logoMusic, drama, art… One Friday invites churches to tell the Good Friday story in fresh ways for contemporary communities. The Talking Jesus research shows that 40% of people don’t realize that Jesus was a real person who actually lived. Could the churches in your area use the One Friday ideas to tell the story of Jesus relevantly in public places in your village, town or city? Find out more here.

Thank you so much for working with us in mission. We are thrilled to hear how churches, cathedrals, denominations and dioceses are planning to use The Servant Queen as part of community celebrations this summer. Do let us know your plans as they develop.
Also, we are gathering stories of lives transformed in 2008. If your church was part of Hope08 - let us know about the impact that year of united mission is having in your area now.
