Battle of the Bands

In a nutshell
Warfield churches got local non-churched young people involved in a ‘Battle of the Bands’ competition. Eight bands performed in the preliminary rounds and then a final was held at their summer HOPE in the Park day.

How did it work?
As a way to get loads of young people involved in their HOPE in the Park summer festival, Warfield churches held a ‘battle of the bands’ competition in the evening. A few months earlier they held preliminary rounds where eight local bands performed three songs each to a panel of judges including a local BBC music reporter. Then, after a summer’s fun day, the three finalists took to the stage in front of a 1000 strong crowd. All the bands were made up of non-churched youth who of course invited their friends along to see them perform and therefore heard the gospel presentation that was given during the evening.
